Roxanne Piskel (she/her/ella) obtained her MFA in English: Creative Writing from the University of Nevada, Reno. She writes literary realist fiction; her thesis novel explores the changing meaning of family and societal expectations of motherhood for women. She has twice received the Anne Howard Endowed Scholarship in English. She received her B.A. in English from Sierra Nevada University (then, College), where she was the recipient of the Editor’s Award for her work on the Sierra Nevada College Review, and the Johann Sebastian Bach Passionate-Precision Award for her writing.
She currently works at the University of Nevada, Reno in Donor Relations where she writes for Silver & Blue magazine and numerous email newsletters. She managed a personal blog, Unintentionally Brilliant, for many years and has also worked as a freelance editor.
Roxanne lives in the Biggest Little City where she enjoys watching the Great Reno Balloon Races, taking trips to Lake Tahoe as much as possible, and reading every book she can get her hands on.
